The Libertarian Party of Canada was founded in 1973 to advocate for individual liberty, low taxes, free markets and social tolerance.

We believe that all citizens should be free to pursue their own visions of a better life, so long as they never harm another person while doing so.

Free economies are prosperous ones with more job opportunities. And a competitive marketplace means that consumers receive good value for the products and services they buy.

We also believe strongly in social tolerance: that we should respect the rights and freedoms of other people even if we disagree with their life choices or opinions. And we recognize that one-size-fits-all government programs are not the answer to all our social ills. The only proper role of government is to protect our life, liberty and right to pursue happiness.

Instead of top-down control, we want to reduce the responsibilities and expense of government. This, so that we may each manage our lives to mutually fulfill our needs by the free and voluntary exchange of our efforts and property for the value that best realizes our happiness.

The Libertarian Party of Canada is providing a political voice to a notion that doesn't get much attention in our current system: that individual Canadians are the best judges of how to live their lives. We want to provide Canadian voters an alternative to the cronyism of the Liberals,  the socialism of the NDP, and the tyranny of the Conservatives, one that puts you in the diver's seat of your life. We are currently Canada's 5th largest political party, and we are on track to reach major party status.
